LCD Soundsystem became a household name (or at least a flat-hold name) after he dropped the exhilarating Sound of Silver back in 2007, uping the echelon of Dance-rock to it’s own, incomparable level. With that being said, news of a new record should bring about quite the anticipation. On Monday, May 17 in the U.K. (and assuming the 18 in the U.S.) LCD Soundsytem will finally drop it’s third full-length album. The as-of-yet untitled album will consist of nine tracks, that will run at 65 minutes P4k reports.
The tracklist can be found below, with either “Drunk Girls” or “Change” likely being the first single.
On his newly created blog Flowers & Cream, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth has taken the liberty to blog about all the things that fancy him pretty much whenever he feels like it. Yesterday, Moore revealed an artist named Strange Brew out of “Ypsilanti or Ann Arbor or somewhere around Detroit killer city.” We all know how fond Mr. Moore is of Michigan music and artists like Iggy Pop, so it comes as no surprise that his latest discovery also hails from the same home state as the Godfather of Punk.
It’s been nearly three years since folk band Band of Horses released their gorgeous Cease to Begin. To help kick off the summer season the right way, the band has announced their plans to release their third LP entitled Infinite Arms on May 18. The record label that it will be released on isn’t exactly clear at the moment. Sub-Pop released BOH’s first two albums, so that’d be a good guess.
In addition, the band have a nice North American tour planned, kicking off on the 15th. Dates below.
The Black keys have been receiving quite the attention these days. First with the Blakroc project that saw the duo dropping their crunching riffs with Mos Def, Raekwon and others rapping over it. Then, Dan Auerbach, 1/2 of the Ohio outlet just released his debut solo effort Keep It Hid last month.
Now Today, the Black Keys have announced the details surrounding their sixth full-length. Entitled Brothers, the album will drop on May 18 via Nonesuch and consists of 15 tracks. Above, you can see the actual album artwork — which makes the identity of the record pretty clear — while below is the tracklist.
As mentioned earlier, Nada Surf plan to release a new LP entitled: if i had a hi-fi, an album that will consist completely of covers. The full tracklist of the LP can be viewed below. Above, you can stream/download the first song to be featured on the album, a Billy Fox (formerly of the 80’s band the Mice) cover of “Electrocution”.
if i had a hi-fi will initially only be found at the bands gigs, while a digital release date of June 8 via their own label Mardev Records is to follow.
Much like Raekwon’s stunning 2009 release Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… PT. II — One of Neon’sfavorites of last year — Wu-Massacre, an album that features key Wu members Ghostface Killah, Method Man and Raekwon, has had it’s fair share of pushed back release dates. But good things come to those who are patient.
With a now confirmed set release date of March 30 via Def Jam, Wu Massacre will consist of 12 tracks, featuring guest spots from other Wu-Tang members, Sun God and to my surprise, the awesome Tracy Morgan (for a skit!)
The last time that we heard from Electro-rock outfitted Rapture was way back in 2006 with Pieces of the People We Love, making it nearly four years since the NY based band has dropped any sort of new material. Pieces… was OK, but no grand gesture — as opposed to their stellar 2003 release Echoes.
Well have no fear. In a recent conversation with Pitchfork, the Rapture gave details on their upcoming album, which they are currently recording at Zdar’s Motorbass studio in Montmartre, Paris, along with producer Philippe Zdar (a member of the dance duo Cassius) and which, apparently has a lot more things in common with Echoes as opposed to Pieces…
Pianist Envy, a new mixtape made up of remixes on the piano from the extraordinary Chilly Gonzales takes on “Single Ladies” by Beyonce, Daft Punk by adding in swirls of electro and rugged hip-hop beats, and of course, classic piano progressions (such as from the likes of John Coltrane) that flow as natural characteristics of the groove inducer. Other songs by artists like: 50 Cent, Daft Punk, Busta Rhymes, Claude Von Stroke, Clipse, and Kelly Clarkson get remixed as well, turning each track into complete gold.
Back in 2004, Bright Eyes and fellow Nebraska Neva Dinova got together to record a split EP entitled: One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels. Remaining as one of the lesser known releases from Saddle Creek — but regarded as a favorite by fans. Well now, reports TwentyFourbit, One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels will be reissued on March 23 — pre-order here — with four new songs included into the mix. The album was originally an EP that consisted of six songs, but with these four additions, it can now be considered a proper full-length.
On the heels of their first LP in four years, the Dutch indie rockers Bettie Serveert announced plans for their latest Pharmacy of Love, set for release on March 23 via Second Motion records. Above, is the artwork for the album, along with a stream/download MP3 of the first single “Deny All,” an upbeat, anthemic pop track, that serves as classic Bettie Serveert. Below, you can find the video for the track as well.
