I recently received this one in the mail and pretty much can’t put it down. For those of you unfamiliar, Fragments of Winter isthe working moniker of an artist named Tristan, who recently self-released an album entitled Skyrockets. Tristan self-proclaimed the album as being: “a mixture of melancholic, visual, electronic, instrumental music, and then some,” and that nearly sells it short. Skyrockets shifts between electro-pop to darker ambience without effort, in a fluid, and subtle manner. On “The Loudest Rainbow”, Fragments of Winter exemplifies the more idealistic side of this project, with it’s riveting echoey synths, and propulsive percussion, it serves as the perfect remedy to those trying to just make it through another winter.
