Minus the Bear Working on New, More Optimistic Album

Minus the Bear aren’t exactly the most depressingly sad band apart of the scene right now, but at the same time, they’re no Flaming Lips. Presenting themselves as a more solemn, introverted outlet over their past three records, the boys have chosen to take a different route for their at-the-moment untitled forthcoming album, set for release sometime in the spring of next year. In an interview with Spinner, lead singer Jake Snider had this to say about the overall mood of the album:
“It’s more optimistic, more about enjoying life,” Snider says, “rather than the darker edge that Planet of Ice had.”
In questioning whether Snider was concerned about the reaction fans may have towards their newfound sound, Snider cooly responded:
“I think they might be surprised at how bright and upbeat the record is,” Snider says. “But maybe not. Maybe it’s just what they would expect.”
Minus the Bear’s first single off of the album is entitled “Into the Mirror”, and was released on October 27th via Tigre Blanco records. Check out at their Myspace page here.
