Xiu Xiu Reveal Plans For New Album, Release New Song, Tour Dates, And Blood

With an album title as morose as Dear God, I Hate Myself it’s hard to not turn a blind eye and assume that it’s just another release from one of the many emo-core bands occupying the airwaves today. But surpise! It’s the latest album from art-rockers Xiu Xiu! Yet, that’s not to say that morbidity will be far behind. Either way, a lot of planning has been put into the experimenters seventh studio album. Due out on February 23 via Kill Rock Stars, Dear God… will include some rather revolting special editions that will include “hand-made chocolate and real blood” reports Pitchfork, with the eye-catching image above posing as promotion. Scrumptious.

The special edition LP’s of Dear God… will only be limited to 100 copies, while only 21 of the 100 copies will come with handmade chocolate and a handmade t-shirt with “Xiu Xiu for Life” written on it in real blood. Darn! The 21 special edition LP’s are going for $40 and can be purchased from the bands website here. The remaining 79 copies will still come with the handmade chocolate, a sticker pack, but minus the t-shirt (I’m opting for that one, personally), and can be pre-ordered at Kill Rock Stars website here.

Lastly, the first single from Dear God, I Hate Myself fittingly titled “Gray Death” can be streamed and downloaded above, while below, you can find Xiu Xiu’s planned tour dates for 2010, where tUnE-yArDs — Neon’s January Pick — will accompany for some of the U.S. gigs.
