Pavement kicked off their reunion tour for the first day yesterday in New Zealand and from the looks of it, they didn’t hold back. Malkmus and the boys brought everything from “Summer Babe” to “Spit On A Stranger,” while looking solid as a functioning unit once again, and more importantly, like they were enjoying themselves.
Earlier today, P4k hunted down these performances of “Cut Your Hair,” “Rattle By The Rush,” and the ever-pleasing, “Range Life” — they left the Pumpkins and STP references in as well! Check ‘em below along with a list of all the tour dates.
Stephen Malkmus Discusses Pavement’s Future, Fantasy Sports & More with Chuck Klosterman for GQ

In the latest issue of GQ, Stephen Malkmus sat down with music journalist Chuck Klosterman in a meeting of the minds to discuss what the future of Pavement held, why Pavement have more in common with a band like the Strokes than they do with Radiohead, and his love for sports and fantasy teams…
“With a record like Slanted and Enchanted, that was so much a timing thing, along with the fact that its flaws are a big part of what makes it good,” Malkmus says. ”It’s not like some Radiohead record, where the whole thing is good. Our records aren’t good in that way. Our records are more attitude and style, sort of in a punk way. We’re good in the same way the Strokes are good. I think Slanted and Enchanted probably is the best record we made, only because it’s less self-conscious and has an unrepeatable energy about it,” he added.
