The Rapture Are Prepping Their New LP For A Possible Early Summer Release

The last time that we heard from Electro-rock outfitted Rapture was way back in 2006 with Pieces of the People We Love, making it nearly four years since the NY based band has dropped any sort of new material. Pieces… was OK, but no grand gesture — as opposed to their stellar 2003 release Echoes.

Well have no fear. In a recent conversation with Pitchfork, the Rapture gave details on their upcoming album, which they are currently recording at Zdar’s Motorbass studio in Montmartre, Paris, along with producer Philippe Zdar (a member of the dance duo Cassius) and which, apparently has a lot more things in common with Echoes as opposed to Pieces…

The Rapture Working on New Album with Phoenix Producer

Phiippe Zdar, the man behind Phoenix’s lush 2009 release - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, and also 1/2 of French house group Cassius - will assist the Rapture in production for their as-of-yet untitled  third LP. Zdar also made note of that fact that the Dance-punk originators are taking a different approach with this album, attempting to tread into new, more unfamiliar territories. In a recent interview with Pedestrian.tv, Zdar had this to say:

“I think it’s a very good direction. All the songs are stronger…well the seven or eight they sent me. There’s still a lot of what I loved about the first album on these new tracks and also a lot of new futuristic stuff, so it’s really interesting.”

Should be a bitchin’ time.
