DOWNLOAD MP3: We Are Scientists – “Rules Don’t Stop”

With their third full-length entitled: Barbara due out this June via PIAS, We Are Scientists have offered up the brand new single “Rules Don’t Stop” for download (above via YANP). Lasting a bit over two minutes, the quick sampler finds the band attempting to delve even further into the world of Pop-Rock stardom (which they may very well have already achieve overseas.) The production definitely sounds improved, with frontman Keith Murray declaring: “Rules don’t stop me, forget about it” over the chorus.

A bit difficult to stomach at first, but a must listen for any WAS fans.

We Are Scientists return with their second release with a somewhat different approach to music… Well at least musically.  Lyrically, Keith Murray is still singing self deprecation while resisting to refute any sardonic messages.  But this is what the band has become identifiable as, and there’s nothing wrong with that.  Brain Thrust Mastery seems to of drawn influences from everywhere, ranging from hardcore/punk rhythms (see “Dinosaurs”) to ska-type romantic balladry (see “That’s What Counts.”)
