Lollapalooza 2010 Review Day 3
Aug.11, 2010 at 8:47 am, under Concert Reviews

Sunday, August 8
There were tons of incredible bands that played Sunday morning, but because I’m an old person, I showed up after 2 to get close for Yeasayer. The Brooklynites came out for their own sound check, perhaps enforcing the idea that they’re still on the brink of really exploding. Their set was solid, and even though many of the people in the crowd were camping out for MGMT, tons of fans could be found singing every word to every song. Still, singer Chris Keating poked fun at the fact that they were not perhaps the main attraction. After talking about the band’s performance at Lolla two years prior, he said, “But I’m guessing a lot of you weren’t there. In fact, you’re probably standing there wondering, when are they going to play something I know? Well, here’s something you know.” The strains of “O.N.E.” rang out, and the crowd erupted in cheers. The set was mostly made up of song from Odd Blood, and “Ambling Alp” closed everything out with high energy.

Earlier this year, N.E.R.D. released the first single “Hot ‘N Fun” that would appear on their forthcoming album Nothing, which is due out on September 7 via Star Track/Interscope. After a show at the Bowery Ballroom on Monday and one at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on Tuesday, the guys of Yeasayer stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night to perform the first single “Ambling Amp” off of Odd Blood.
Lead singer Chris Keating looked extra suave, donning a pretty sweet suit along with a cleanly shaved face! I guess along with this reinvention of sound on Odd Blood came a visible reinvention as well.
In other Yeasayer news, The Very Best just dropped a remix on the aforementioned track “Ambling Amp” which can be streamed/downloaded above! *Video after jump
Yeasayer – Odd Blood Review
Feb.08, 2010 at 3:30 pm, under Album Reviews, Reviews

Review by Caitlin Wittlif
Though a band’s sophomore release still occasionally gets talked about in rock-critic cliché terms, there is no denying that a second album is a good indication of the group’s growth and direction. On Yeasayer’s highly-anticipated release, Odd Blood, they expand and enhance the sounds from 2007’s All Hour Cymbals. There is a stronger sense of direction to their songs as they create a richer experience for the listener, all the while turning up the groove, which results in both a fun and satisfying album.
Fresh Track: Yeasayer – “O.N.E”

DOWNLOAD MP3: Yeasayer – “O.N.E”

With a little less then two weeks until Yeasayer drops their Sophomore album Odd Blood, the second single — to follow “Ambling Amp” — from the album emerges today entitled: “O.N.E”. “O.N.E” further verifies the bands exploration in pop music, leaving behind their abstractness for a sound that’s much more accessible. The chorus catchy as all hell, and sees Yeasayer going through a complacent R&B makeover.
Secretly Canadian will be releasing the single on March 23. A bit on the late side, considering Odd Blood will be out on February 9.

Yeasayer Reveal Trippy Album Artwork For Odd Blood
Dec.11, 2009 at 11:17 am, under News

Picking up where the Flaming Lips left off, Yeasayer have revealed their freaky album artwork for their sophomore release Odd Blood, which is due out on February 9 via Secretly Canadian.
The artwork was created by Bejamin Phelan, and was described as being “the study of a future with a distorted biology.”
Plausible or nay? A mindfuck regardless.
